Tanishaa Mukerji, poised for a television comeback with Sony TV’s ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,’ recently engaged in an exclusive conversation with India Forums. In this interview, she discusses her return to television, her thoughts on not achieving the same level of popularity as her sister Kajol, reuniting with Gauahar Khan after their time on Bigg Boss, and more.
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what the defining factor was. I received a call and was asked to meet with the team. My initial concern was that I’m not a professional dancer, and my impression of the show was that all participants are professional dancers, which I am not. So, I was initially quite perplexed as to why they contacted me. However, I aspire to learn dance and become a better dancer through the course of the show. This, in part, influenced my decision to take up the opportunity.
In a recent show promo, you mentioned that your sister Kajol and Ajay Devgn are established stars, and you feel you haven’t reached that level yet. Can you elaborate on what led you to say this? Have you faced any criticism regarding this?
No, honestly, it’s about your personal interpretation of what defines a star. In my family, Kajol and Ajay have been part of the industry for years, delivering incredible work and earning immense love and goodwill. I believe that’s the essence of being a star. As for me, I don’t think I’ve achieved that level. Perhaps, after ‘Jhalak,’ my perspective might change; you never know.
I think it’s excellent. To be honest, much of what transpired on the reality show was constructed. Personally, we’ve never had any issues, and our relationship has always been harmonious. Additionally, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ is a different kind of show.
