Kanika Maheshwari, renowned for her role as Meenakshi in Star Plus’ popular series ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum,’ achieved widespread acclaim for her portrayal of the character. In an exclusive conversation, the actress shared her disappointment with how her character evolved in ‘Tu Suraj Main Saanjh Piya Ji’ and responded to the news of a sequel to ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum.’
Surprised by the revelation of a sequel, Kanika expressed her happiness, stating, ”Oh really? I really did not know this. If this is true, I am truly happy. No, I have not been approached for the show yet. But yes, I am happy if the sequel is happening. That show has great potential.”
When asked if she would consider taking up the show if approached, Kanika responded, ”It depends on how they are planning to shape Meenakshi’s character. Honestly, I was not very happy with how my character was shaped up in ‘Tu Suraj Main Saanjh Piya Ji.’ I was disappointed; they killed the rawness of the character. Ideally, it was not the sequel of ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum.’ We were just given that placement. I am sure Shashi Ji is going to write her characters amazingly; she is a brilliant writer. So yes, let’s see what happens.”
