Raveena Tandon is returning to the digital space after impressing viewers with her performance in the Netflix series Aranyak. She will be next seen in the Disney Plus Hotstar series Karmma Calling, where she will be essaying the role of Indrani Kothari, a rich and ultra-glam woman from Alibaug society. The series is an adaptation of the American TV series Revenge, inspired by Alexandre Dumas’ 1844 novel The Count of Monte Cristo.
The makers shared a glimpse of the series on Friday. In it, Raveena as Indrani announces, “To succeed, there are no rules. There’s no right or wrong. To hell with the ethics and morals, and also your near and dear ones. They say what goes around, comes around. But I say, when the world is at your feet, even Karma can’t bring you down.”
The teaser was shared with the caption, “What goes around, comes around? Let Karma come calling, she will handle it.”
Divulging some details about the show, director Ruchi Narain said in a statement, “Karmma Calling is set against the backdrop of the ultra rich and affluent Kothari family and all that conspires around them in their world. The series has massive grandeur, scale and a glamorous outlook with a story that weaves in revenge, deceit, betrayals and also navigates the experiences of the Kothari family. The series is definitely going to be your ‘guilty pleasure’ watch and leave you craving for more.”
Raveena Tandon also shared that Karmma Calling will delve into the world of the rich and said that it is after a long time she is playing a character like Indrani for whom the “world is her stage”. She said, “Karmma Calling is definitely more than what meets the eye and explores different facets of the world of the rich. Collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar was a great experience and playing Indrani helped me explore more for myself as an actor. It is a never-seen-before and never done before role and I am looking forward to audience reactions.”
Karmma Calling will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from January 26, 2024. The other cast members are yet to be announced.
