Rajiv Thakur spills the beans on The Great India Kapil Show’s ratings post its move from TV to OTT

Comedian Rajiv Thakur has been a significant member of The Great India Kapil Show. The comedy series had a long stint on Sony Entertainment Television known as The Kapil Sharma Show. However, he and his crew made the shift to Netflix earlier this year. Rajiv has shared insights on how the comedy show’s ratings were impacted by the move to the OTT platform.

In an interview with Telly Chakkar, Rajiv Thakur was questioned about the performance of The Great India Kapil Show. While the show thrived on TV, its success didn’t quite translate to Netflix as it did on television. Rajiv commented, “Actually logo ko galatfehmi hai ki chala nai. Shayad joh TV hai woh sab log dekh pate hai lekin Netflix pe agar nai chala hota toh second season nai bana hota. Kyuki wh bahut professional log hai, baahr ki company hai woh sirf figures dekhti hai.”

Rajiv stayed silent when questioned about managing the situation as an artist, especially during Sunil Grover’s controversies. However, he responded passionately when asked about The Great India Kapil Show’s lack of success, despite his full dedication on both TV and Netflix.

He added, “Toh unke (Netflix) figures bade hai Kapil Sharma show ke saath. Joh log Kapil Sharma ko pyar karte hai, unhone Netflix lia hai aur Netflix par dekhne gaye hai. Yeh ek success hai ki aap apni audience ko dusri jagah shift kar pate hai.”

According to online reports, The Great India Kapil Show season 2 is set to premiere on September 21 on Netflix. Apart from Kapil and Rajiv, the show features a fantastic cast comprising Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, and Kiku Sharda.
