After doing Tenali Rama, I did not want to take up Mahaveer: Krishna Bharadwaj on his role in Dhruv Tara

Krishna Bhardwaj earned widespread acclaim for his performance in SAB TV’s “Tenali Rama.” His portrayal in the show received high praise, becoming synonymous with his identity. However, Krishna recently made an appearance in another popular SAB TV show, “Dhruv Tara,” where he plays the character of Mahaveer. He opened up about his initial hesitations regarding this role.

Admitting his reservations about not playing a ‘lead’ character, Krishna stated, ”Initially, I wasn’t enjoying the role at all, and I didn’t even want to take it up. But then the makers expanded my character’s storyline and included a love story, which brought some interesting scenes my way. After my experience with ‘Tenali Rama,’ I was hesitant to do this show because I didn’t see much scope for me as an actor. However, for the past three months, I’ve been genuinely enjoying this character. It’s been a refreshing change from comedy to a more dramatic show.”

When asked about his initial reaction to being offered the role, he mentioned, ”I initially declined the offer, saying I didn’t want to do it. When you’ve played a lead role, you naturally aspire to take on similar roles in the future. Even if it’s not a lead, you hope for a character with substance, which Mahaveer initially lacked. However, the makers adapted the character for me, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to portray this role.”
