After more than a decade, Manisha Sharma will be moving on from Viacom18 to pursue her individual goals



Manisha Sharma made headlines recently with news of stepping down from the role of Chief Content Officer, Hindi Mass Entertainment, at Viacom18. As an accomplished figure in the media industry, she has played a significant role in shaping the content landscape. Her departure marks a notable change in the company’s leadership.

A Viacom18 spokesperson said, “After more than a decade of helping build COLORS as a powerhouse of Hindi General Entertainment, Manisha Sharma will be moving on from Viacom18 to pursue her individual goals. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”

In 2018, Manisha, then heading programming of Colors TV now, earned the position of Chief Content Officer- Hindi Mass Entertainment of Viacom18. Manisha was one of the many who played a pivotal role in the success of the Hindi entertainment channel, particularly after she was appointed Head of Non-Fiction at Colors in 2012. She also led Colors Rishtey, which transformed from a free-to-air channel to Colors Rishtey under her guidance in February 2019.

As the Chief Content Officer (CCO), she was responsible for shaping content strategies for Viacom18’s expansion in the mass entertainment segment. Manisha’s leadership contributed to the triumph of several iconic shows such as “24,” “Dance Deewane,” “Bigg Boss,” “Khatron Ke Khiladi,” “Rising Star,” “Udaariyaan,” “Naagin” franchise, “Ishq Mein Marjawaan” franchise, “Sirf Tum,” and more. Her recent decision to step down marks a significant transition for her and the company.

Even before joining Colors, Manisha had worked with Sony Entertainment Television as the Non-fiction Programming Head. She was responsible for content strategy and conceptualization. Throughout her tenure, Manisha Sharma introduced some successful shows, including iconic ones like Kaun Banega Crorepati, Dus Ka Dum, Comedy Circus, and Crime Patrol. Not only did she excel in non-fiction programming, but she also spearheaded noteworthy fiction properties such as Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and Kkusum. Before her time at Viacom18, Manisha collaborated with brands like Channel V and UTV. She also left her mark as the Creative Director for Miditech’s acclaimed drama series, Saara Aakash. Her diverse experience showcases her significant contributions to the media and entertainment landscape
