Undoubtedly, Kushal Tandon has captured the hearts of television viewers since his debut show. The actor, currently staging a comeback on television with the show ‘Barsatein’ on Sony TV, discloses the reasons for his absence from the silver screen for a significant period of 5 years.

In an exclusive chat with us at the launch of his upcoming show Barsatein, Kushal revealed what kept him away from television for 5 long years. the actor said, ”I had to work very hard. Yes, I am returning to television after 5 years. But this does not mean that I had quit television. I did not plan on taking this break. Had I been offered a good story, I would have definitely done it. I did a web series called ‘Hum’ and ‘Bebaakee’ and post that I was busy with the restaurant I launched. After this, Covid happened. Then, I suffered from a back injury due to which I was on bed rest. Because of the bed rest, I gained a lot of weight and I weighed somewhere around 115 Kgs. I went to Thailand then and learnt martial arts and boxing. I got fit over there and came back, the process however is still on.”

Further, the actor revealed how he has been managing to stay in shape and said, ”I have been on a calorie deficit diet. When you have to get back in shape, you have to follow a calorie deficit diet. But yes, I have worked very hard. After 6 months of being on bed rest, I had to heal my back injury too. After that healed, I trained myself in the pain killers too. But it was all worth it.”

Kushal Tandon will be seen essaying the character of a news agency owner in the show. Barsatein stars Shivangi Joshi and Kushal in the lead roles.
